Joseph Kiwanuka Balikuddembe
Joseph Kiwanuka Balikuddembe, known as Joe Bali, is one of Uganda's most experienced senior banking executives. Over a career spanning more than two decades, he has led transformations at some of the region's most significant financial institutions, structured landmark deals, and built the high-performance teams that delivered them.
Currently serving as Executive Director Business at Centenary Bank, Joseph oversees one of Uganda's largest banks, including the implementation of the Omni-Channel Switch, a strategic initiative to digitize Centenary Bank to a smart bank and grow revenue.
Before Centenary Bank, Joseph served as Executive Director at United Bank for Africa (UBA) Uganda, where he is credited with turning the institution profitable for the first time in its history, eight years after Uganda operations commenced. Under his leadership, the bank moved from Unsatisfactory to Satisfactory regulatory rating.
Prior to UBA, Joseph spent nearly a decade at Barclays Bank of Uganda, rising from Relationship Manager to VP Head of Business Banking, structuring the deal that won the Global Trade Review (GTR) Africa Trade Deal of the Year 2014.
Joseph holds an MBA in Finance and Strategy from Edinburgh Business School, Heriot Watt University, and a BSc (Honours) in Agriculture from Makerere University.

Joseph Kiwanuka Balikuddembe brings over two decades of experience spanning Insurance, Business Banking, and Corporate Banking across Africa and internationally, including over 8 years of Executive Committee level leadership in the financial sector, having served as Executive Director at Centenary Bank and United Bank for Africa PLC Uganda.
He has overseen strategic business functions, institutional operations, compliance, risk, legal oversight, digital banking initiatives, and large-scale public-sector banking projects.
He has also served as Acting Managing Director of United Bank for Africa PLC, Democratic Republic of Congo, and has completed Corporate Governance Training for Board Directors through United Bank for Africa and Ernst & Young in Nairobi, Kenya.
Beyond banking, Joseph serves as Treasurer, Board of Trustees, Namugongo-Kyoto Foyer for Charity, reflecting his continued involvement in governance, stewardship, and community service.
